I just came across this clearly translated-badly-and-possibly-by-babelfish-from-another-language-than-English account of Harley's origin story.

It provides many lols:

Harley Quinn (Dr. Harlin Kvinzel) - avatar animated television series Batman, the latest - and in a series of DC Comics. Name conceived as a play on the word "harlequin" - hence its style. Harley Quinn - Joker's constant companion, from time to time acting in a pair with Poison Ivy.

Harlin Kvinzel was an intern in a psychiatric hospital Arkem, where the first time and met the Joker. First, all confined to only a professional interest - Harley saw himself the author of best-selling popular psychology and self-reflection - and what could be better than the debut book about the most notorious criminal Gotham? Joker was happy for her ticket. But even though he was a Harley and a diploma of the prestigious department of psychology -

psychoanalysis of it came unimportant. A Joker meanwhile noticed a brand new pretty blonde named Harlequin, and - just for fun - decided to play. "Harley Quinn. That name really puts a smile on my face" - as he later told Dr. Kvinzel. Red rose and a note with "Come see me." Jay "- and so intrigued Harley Joker arranges for regular psychoanalytic sessions. And then they've been listening to stories about the ill father, a difficult childhood, a misunderstood creative personality, but at the same time - about Batman, and that as a bat does not he want passage. His heart-rending story in the manner he svoytvennoy Joker seasoning a couple of jokes and sad smiles - and here Dr. Hurley has penetrated to the clown sympathy.

A reflection in his spare time, she did and went over to his side. And soon in the armchair physicians have turned out to be Mr. Jay, listened to emotional outpourings Harlin. Who would have thought that's how it all will turn? Joker devilishly charming, attentive to the lonely and upset Hurley - here the doctor and realized that she fell in love with his patient.

And suddenly - a couple of weeks later - in the headlines of all newspapers - "The Joker escaped from the hospital Arkem. Experienced and suffering Harley place does not find it. And so a few weeks. And then arrived, dark knight, returning crippled and deranged Joker in a psychiatric hospital. This picture is finally brought Harlin crazy. Without thinking, she wore arlekinsky costume and staging in a hospital massacre, took away laughing Mr. Jay away from the loony bin ...

That's how Dr. Kvinzel become Harley Quinn.

And then - insane criminal antics as naparnitsa Joker, intermittent confinement is native to the nuthouse Arkem it, and finally - the eternal struggle with Batman and his team. So, ahead of Harley Quinn waited insanely interesting life ...

Genius... sheer genius!

This very topic has been delved into on this eljay, on countless internet forums and communities but also no-doubt at conventions, coffee shops and through pen-pal correspondence dozens of years ago... it's nothing new to any dedicated Batgeek and probably not to most casual fans either. But now a University Philosophy Lecturer (well lah-di-dah! ;)) has gone and made it legit:

THE EXISTENTIAL LONELINESS THAT UNITES BATMAN AND THE JOKER

Whilst the lecturer himself has too heavily favoured The Killing Joke and while the author of the article is too clearly hung-up on Ledjoker, this makes for an interesting read even if it's just a highly condensed version of the conversation you had in the comic book store last week.

Just a little list of a few items I want real bad - and that are probably still some many months out of reach. :P

I'm hopeful, however, that the divine and recently released bust will soon be mine. <3

B&W Joker, Jim Lee Style B&W Joker, "Jim Lee" Style

I openly dislike Jim Lee's take on Joker... when it's on the page.

But this statue's beauty made my jaw drop! Somehow, Jim Lee's quibblesome design just translates divinely to 3D... it's so marvellously cartoony and lively and in black and white just seems to pack a punch of character.

I really want this statue bad.

Bad photo, but beautiful, classic Joker design lovingly rendered in 3D form.
JLU Joker Bust JLU Joker Bust

Joker's refined BTAS-era design for the JLU series in this incredible, dynamic mini-bust.

Want, want, want!
BTAS Joker Maquette BTAS Joker Maquette

This is something of a "holy grail" for me... I've wanted it a long time, lost a couple of auctions, won one - only for the seller to report they broke it as they were packaging it to ship - ugh. It's never cheap and I spend a lot of money on cosplays so I continue to go wanting. I really want it so bad. I think this was the first BTAS-era Joker statue released and it is STUNNING. Drop dead gorgeous. Want it bad.

I just want it. It's a lively, character-filled little piece.
